You will be able to choose the size of your blocks, which will teach you how to alter the pattern! Yes, you are also going to learn to read a crochet chart! You can choose as many or as few combinations of light, medium and dark yarns as you like (from 3-99 different colours!). What a great stash buster! CLASS: Tempted by Tunisian Crochet?

Click here for Tempted by Tunisian Crochet Supply List

Dates: Wednesday June 5 from 9 am - 4 pm

Class Registration: $140.00

Class Overview: Is it knitting, or is it crochet? It certainly can look like knitting, but Tunisian crochet is absolutely worked with one hook. You won’t believe how easy it is. If you already crochet, you have the skills. If you do not crochet, don’t worry, it is easy to learn. You can buy a special Tunisian crochet hook, but most projects do not require any special tools. (Don’t let that stop you!) In this class, you will learn the basic TC stitches, such as the Simple Stitch, the Full Stitch, the Knit Stitch, the Purl Stitch, the Smocking Stitch and the Block Stitch. See how incredibly easy it is to increase, decrease and bind off. We will work on some samples to get you warmed up in the morning, and you will have several projects to choose from to work on the rest of the day. You will receive instructions for all the projects so you can do them all at some point.

In Mosaic Crochet, we always use only one colour per row. The stitches are nice and tidy too, and the resulting fabric is textured, squishy and comfortable. We will work on two samples to get you comfortable with the technique, and then you will have projects to choose from and work on for the rest of the day. Yes, you are going to learn to read a chart! You will receive instructions for all the projects (a mug rug, a hot mat, and a cushion cover) so you can do them all at some point.

Date:  Friday May 31 from 9 am to Noon

Class Registration:  $80.00

Class Overview: :Many knitters avoid knitting in the English style - even switch to another style, because they think it's inefficient. The truth is, it's a very efficient method, but it's being done wrong by most of us in the 21st century. This class is a deep dive into the original techniques and landmarks of English knitting, what we've done to make it seem inefficient and slow, and how to undo or modify those faulty variations. Knitters will learn to knit more efficiently and more comfortably with this class.

Skill Level: all levels of experience.  Beginners are welcome but must be able to independently cast-on, and make knit and purl stitches in the English style.

This class is a deep dive into how to improve your technique, lower your risk of injury, and increase efficiency and comfort.

Skill Level;  All levels of experience .  Beginners are welcome but knitters must be able to independently cast on and make knit and purl stitches in the Continental style.

Class: Ergonomics of Knitting Needles

Click here for Ergonomics of Knitting Needles Supply List

Date:  Saturday June 1 from 9 am to 4 pm

Class Registration:  $140.00

Class Overview:  A needle is not just a needle. Choosing the right needle for your project is the most impactful decision when starting a project, and the biggest determinants of comfort while knitting it. Too often we reach for whatever vacant needle we have that matches the pattern’s suggestion. Knitting needles have evolved to make work easier – if you pair them correctly with the yarn and stitch pattern you’re knitting. Paired incorrectly, and you’ll work much harder than you need to. Yet many knitters (and sadly, needle makers) don’t know what a needle’s features bring to a project and when to choose them. Poor yarn and needle pairing can lead to muscle and eye soreness, and even injury. In this class you’ll use a variety of needles, yarns, and stitch patterns to experience the impact of needle selection. You’ll feel firsthand the amazing difference in comfort and ease of knitting that your needle can make. You’ll understand the ergonomic contributions of any knitting needle so you can choose wisely in all your projects.

Skill Level: Advance Beginner through advanced knitter.  A basic understanding of how to read a chart is strongly encouraged.  It is helpful if the knitter has knit simple cables and lace patters as these will be nit in class.

We’ll also look at ways to add movement to knitting to avoid stiffness and injuries caused by disuse. Class is appropriate for students who are comfortable with  basic knit and purl stitches. Swatches of basic cable and lace patterns re also made in class.  Stitch patterns are provided in both charted and written formats.

Tired muscles, sore joints, and aching backs and necks needlessly plague too many knitters. This class will teach you fun ways of “fiber care” for the most important project you make—YOU! Don’t let the preventable keep you from doing what you love. Knit on, safely and comfortably!

Skill Level:  this class is suitable for all levels of knitting experience
